With years of experience as a Steadicam and camera operator, NYC- based Matthew Marino seeks to bring a human, artful touch to every frame. The camera is a tool for storytelling, and Matthew’s passion for composition and capturing performance enhances the mood and emotions of each piece. Where many see the Steadicam as a conduit for perfection, he sees it as an extension of ourselves, a way to immerse the viewer in a gliding, human perspective. As a member of the Steadicam Operators Association and an associate member of the Society of Camera Operators, Matthew’s technical knowledge is vast, but that knowledge is in service of the story at the heart of each film. His background as a DP and photographer imbues his operating work with a keen yet adaptable sense of style and an eye for unconventional framing. Equally comfortable with operating handheld or on a traditional head or sliders, Matthew approaches each film with an open mind, discovering the style and the story that the director wants to tell and bringing it to life.
